xxKaren Kay Interviewed by Team Dignitas

One of the most supportive mothers in all of eSports is of course Karen Kay, who can often be seen on twitter closely following all of her son's tournament performances very closely. Team Dignitas have conducted an interview with her, an extract from which can be found below:

Quote
How has BlinG’s Starcraft journey been for you as both a parent, and fan?

It has been fantastic for me as a parent, seeing his gaming career grow into a proper job! A dream job in fact! He knows he is in a brilliant position - and as a parent it fills me with pride and joy to see my son doing something that he loves, and get paid for it too. At first I did not really understand how anyone could make money from playing games online!

I was very suspicious the first time he told me he was playing in a tourney with a £10 prize! I was like "so who is putting up this ten pounds? and are you sure they are who they say they are" I was just being protective! but when he won, and then started playing more and more, that's when my real interest in the game really began.

You can read the interview in full on the Team Dignitas website here.

xxrANDY Interviewed by ESL UK

After defeating DeMusliM on his way to winning the third qualifier for the StarCraft II World Championship Series UK Nationals last weekend, ESL UK spoke to Andrew "rANDY" Whittle about his performance.

Quote
You managed to beat DeMusliM in the final of the 3rd qualifier for the StarCraft II World Championship Series - was that something that you were expecting? How did it feel to beat the pre-tournament favourite?

When I was matched against DeMuslim in the finals I was already glad to have qualified and I did not expect to win against him. Entering the fourth game 2-1 down I was expecting him to maybe change things up as he needed only 1 game to close out the series and I had gone nexus first in all 3 of the first games. I went gateway first and upon scouting his base found only a supply depot so I knew he was allining me so I was right. I managed to hold it off and tie it up at 2-2. Entering the final game I expected him to resort back to his usual TvP build, 1 rax expo with a rather late scout, so I abused this by going 2 proxy gates and didnt show anything until I had 3 zealots. When they arrived at his base he only had 1 marine so that game was an autowin. It felt great to beat Demuslim, but if I am to meet him at the National Finals I think he will be more cautious of what I am doing so I will need to improve my standard play to beat him.

The complete interview can be found on the ESL UK website here.
